Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 Review

The galaxy ace line-up has always been an interesting combination of specs and price point. The galaxy Ace 3 keep ups this tradition. As an addition to the ace line-up this phone brings some similar features and design language of the Samsung's current flagship the 'Galaxy S4'. Without further delay lets get to the review.

Design and Hardware:
The Galaxy Ace 3 continues the Samsung's same trend of plastic design. It has a complete plastic body with a metal like rim around the phone. The phone though looks nice and is very light weight due to the use of plastic. It has the volume rocker on the left, the power lock key on the right, 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and microUSB port on the bottom.
The phone comes with a 1Ghz Dual-Core CPU with 1 GB of Ram and 4 GB of internal storage(1.77 user available). The Galaxy Ace 3 however overcomes the problem of internal storage by providing a microSD slot for memory expansion up to 64GB.

Display:
The display is a 4" TFT LCD with a resolution of 480x800 giving a pixel density of 233ppi. The display produces some decent colors and has good viewing angles. The brightness of the display is not very high which results in very poor performance of display under direct sunlight.

Camera:
The Ace 3 has a 5 MP Camera with an LED Flash which is capable of recording video at 720p @30 fps. The photos captured by the Camera are good with decent color representation and less noice as compared to any mid-range Smartphone Camera of this type. Indoor photography can be a problem to some people.
The best thing about the camera is that it has the same interface as that on the Galaxy S4, it includes some features like Sound Shot, Drama shot thus giving it a good look and enjoyable photography. The phone also has a front facing VGA camera for video calls.

Software and Interface:
The Galaxy Ace 3 runs on the latest Android Version 4.2.2 with Samsung's latest TouchWiz UI. The phone borrows some features from the flagship like the Customizable notification bar, redefined settings menu, etc. The interface doesn't have all the fancy animations that the high-end smartphones have.

The rest of the interface is same as you would expect from a TouchWiz phone.

Performance:
The phone has 1Ghz Dual-Core processor which is enough for some light games and some popular apps. The pre installed touchwiz browser renders pages quickly. The phone is capable for day to day performance but when it comes to high-end gaming or any other intensive application then don't expect much from it.
Galaxy Ace 3

Pros:
  • Light weight
  • Good call quality
  • Decent Camera quality and screen quality
  • Decent price point
Cons:
  • Poor indoor Camera performance
  • Phone fells slower some times
  • Low internal storage
  • The loudspeaker is not loud enough, but has good sound quality.
Final Thoughts:
The Galaxy Ace 3 is a mild upgrade from its predecessor. It gives some decent specs at a very good price point. For those who want to buy a mid-range smartphones with looks and feels of a high end or are going to buy there first smartphone, Ace 3 is an option to consider.

Rating: 7.2/10
